Princeton University EHS celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Sept. 30. It was on this day that the Office of Occupational Health and Safety was formally established in 1971 under founding director Jack Faust.
To mark the occasion, we invited former staff members to gather virtually. There was much merriment and story swapping as health and safety veterans recalled radiation spills, bugs (literally) in the equipment and the discovery of what was initially thought to be a bomb in an old basement! (More on these stories to come...)
Assistant Vice President of EHS Robin Izzo narrated a video highlighting recent changes to the campus, and a beverage of choice was raised to toast a half century of safety at Princeton.
All attendees are invited back to an in-person event in the spring on the Princeton University campus, date and location to be announced. We're looking forward to seeing some of these safety veterans in person after many years.
